Groundwork Labs

Groundwork Labs is a tech accelerator powered by NC IDEA and Capitol Broadcasting Company. It’s located adjacent to video game accelerator Joystick Labs, and while funded and operated independently, makes the most of synergies provided by location and collaboration. Groundwork Labs will select startups to join a three-month program providing up to $20,000 in funding, mentoring from successful entrepreneurs, access to investors, office space, legal expertise and business guidance.

BoostSuite

BoostSuite is a web marketing optimization product for small businesses. We allow novice web marketers to build more website traffic and convert more online visitors into customers and leads for their businesses. Unlike current web marketing optimization products that bewilder and discourage small business users, BoostSuite takes only three minutes to set up, is easy to learn, and can be used by anyone.

Adzerk

Adzerk is building a next generation ad server. Their goal is to make the banner ads and other advertisements you see on the Web more effective, faster, and less intrusive. In 2011, they are going to be launching their product to the public (they are currently in private beta). They will also be hiring our first full-time employees.

Two Toasters

Two Toasters is a mobile agency; they focus on strategy, design and development of iPhone and Android applications. We are the mobile team behind a lot of successful venture-backed startups. In 2011, they will hire exceptional individuals who understand that mobile is the future of computing, achieve national recognition as mobile experts and have fun growing the business they started from scratch.

Jaargon Ltd.

Jaargon Ltd is becoming a leader in delivering health care information conveniently and on demand through mobile devices. Their first project, GotoAID, is the premiere first aid resource on the internet and on mobile devices. Their focus is on ‘Mobilizing Healthcare’ by taking the medical "jargon" out of health care and bringing it to a level a non-health care professional can understand. They believe that by providing these tools we can empower people to take responsibility for their own health.

Council for Entrepreneurial Development

CED relocated to the Underground in October. Founded in 1984, CED identifies, enables and promotes high-growth, high-impact companies and accelerates the entrepreneurial culture of the Research Triangle and North Carolina.

Joystick Labs

Joystick Labs will revolutionize video game development by identifying, providing seed capital to, and accelerating the development and commercial launch of, companies founded by the next generation of best and brightest video game entrepreneurs.

LearnVC

LearnVC models the startup ecosystem, centered around the ownership structure of the startup companies with our web-based software service. In addition, they provide education to entrepreneurs and students related to raising capital.

Sustainable Industrial Solutions (SIS) is making American manufacturing more competitive and reducing greenhouse gases one factory at a time. We leverage energy efficiency and paid from saving implementations to embed sustainability best practices throughout an organization.

InspiRx is an emerging pharmaceutical company focusing on the respiratory market. InspiRx will focus on aerosol delivery systems and pulmonary drugs. Specifically marrying their device technology to their proprietary drugs. InspiRx's initial device launch will specifically focus on the needs to deliver aerosol medication to the infant population. InspiRx is part of Nostrum Pharmaceuticals with headquarters in Princeton, NJ.

Acorn Innovestments is an angel investment and consulting firm that focuses on start-ups and early stage companies with special attention given to manufacturing, environmental technology and advanced materials, in addition to other areas in which Acorn can contribute strong strategic value.

Stout Developers, LLC

The Stout Consulting and Development Company is a Rackspace partner specializing in cloud computing. Stout Developers has launched a startup company, Scholastic Incentives, Inc. in the AmericanUnderground. Scholastic Incentives provides micro incentives for scholastic performance.
